چکیده

This paper is about computed tomography angiography based vessel exploration. Large image sequences of the lower extremities are investigated in a clinical environment. Two different approaches for peripheral vessel diagnosis dealing with stenosis and calcification detection are introduced. The paper presents an automated vessel-tracking tool for curved planar reformation. A user interactive segmentation tool for bone removal is proposed.

Parametric investigation of autofrettage process in thick spherical vessel made of functionally graded materials

In this paper, the effect of autofrettage process parameters on the ultimate pressure that functionally graded spherical vessel can tolerate are investigated. FGM properties and autofrettage pressure are considered as important parameters. Assumptions are variation of properties of FGM in radial direction, the residual stress in the absence of Bauschinger effect with the operation of variable m...

Are we beyond cowboy tactics for arterial catheterization?

Ultrasound guidance for vascular cannulation has been proposed to increase success rates for vascular access and decrease complications.1,2 Ultrasound is also a tool for choosing the optimal target vessel: identifying size, position, and patency is especially important under certain conditions (peripheral vascular disease, obesity, hypotension). However, studies vary by methodology, patient pop...

Radioadaptive response in peripheral blood leukocytes of occupationally exposed medical staff with investigation of DNA damage by the use of neutral comet assay

Background: ˝Radioadaptive Response˝ is well-documented phenomenon appeared in low dose ionizing radiation received in vitro and in vivo. Occupational exposure has always been a great concern for radiation workers therefore this study was performed to study radioadaptive response in terms of residual DNA double strand breaks as an endpoint in peripheral blood leukocytes of occupationally expose...

The role of platelets in peripheral vascular disease.

Platelets play a major role in acute ischaemic syndromes and peripheral vascular disease. They are involved in the development and progression of atherosclerosis, native vessel and graft thrombosis. They have a central role in the development of restenosis and reocclusion after peripheral percutaneous transluminal angioplasty. Antiplatelet therapy has been shown to be beneficial in patients und...

Monocyte activation in angiogenesis and collateral growth in the rabbit hindlimb.

We have previously shown that monocytes adhere to the vascular wall during collateral vessel growth (arteriogenesis) and capillary sprouting (angiogenesis). In this study we investigated the association of monocyte accumulation with both the production of the cytokines-basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and TNF-alpha-and vessel proliferation in the rabbit after femoral artery occlusion. In p...
